So, I saw the trailer for this yesterday while waiting for "The Grand Budapest Hotel" to start (fabulous, BTW).

I had seen that Martin Freeman was going to do a TV series here in the U.S but I had no idea it is going to air so soon. Starts April 15th on FX.

Looks like it will be pretty faithful to the overall style and tone of the movie.

Also stars Billy Bob Thornton (!) and Colin Hanks among others.

Been waiting for it. Tax Day fun in store, I hope.

BTW, almost none of us talk that way, except for a few old-timers. Either that or I no longer hear it as abnormal.

I was dubious of this when I first heard, but I saw the first preview and was very impressed. Looks like they nailed the tone of the movie. Impressive cast. Can't wait!

Fargo premieres tonight. Colin Hanks was on Conan last night and the clip shown was a scene between Billy Bob and Hanks. Fargo looks to be pretty good now that Justified is over.

My 2 cents:

Really very well written!

Martin Freeman was doing a flat-on William H. Macy immitation, complete with speech patterns and body language. Maybe that's the only way he could hang on to the accent.

Since I live in MN I kept being picky about the actors' accents. Most were either fakey or they didn't even try. I appreciated the MN setting (supposed to be Bemidji/Duluth), but it's still a fable. (BB Thornton was on one of the talk shows and said that it was filmed in Calgary.)

(BTW, I used to lust after BB Thorton back when he was fat and bald and not well known. Now he's just odd! But a good actor.)

I'm waiting to see what all the well known actors who weren't used much in this episode will do in the future.

This episode's ending really surprised me!

I'm thinking that this show will develop a very strong following.
