Another husband here LOL. I'm kinda in the same boat. This is my wife's favorite show, and a top 5'ish of mine. I'll definitely keep watching, I am a bit bored with everything in France so far. Season 1 seemed to move a long pretty fast, while things are a lot slower thus far in Season 2.

And though I know he's primarily a French actor, I knew I had seen Dominique Pinon in an American film. he was in Alien: Resurrection.

Yes, it is a bit boring, but feel it's leading up to something and essential for what is going to happen.

What do you think?
Wait and see!

Hey, on a serious note, how about the scenes with her in the hospital, cutting and probing, gosh, I can't look.
really makes me thankful for the times we're living in.

No anesthesia then.....(ugh)?

Medical professionals have to develop the knack of dissociating the patient's problem from the patient himself. The ritual of a surgeon draping a patient with sheets in the OR is a part of that process, I think, in addition to infection control. The operative site becomes the focus; the rest of the patient is obscured.

There are some really interesting scenes where Claire applies her skills that I hope make it into the series.

Yes, I agree, would love them to fold more history into this, it would certainly be very interesting.

I am so frustrated, since I adored the books, but do not get Starzz. I get the DVDs much later. I hope that Claire's study of folk and herbal medicine gets covered in the movies, since it was such a huge and interesting part of the books.

I agree. I'm a nurse and I've always been interested in how medical issues were addressed in the past. This is what attracted me to these books in the first place. It's been a while since I've read the books but it seems to me that the tv series has not spent enough time on this part of the story.

Off topic: the worst historical medical procedure that I've seen on tv was on the mini-series about John Adams where a woman undergoes a total mastectomy without anesthesia. Wow!

yes, yanno what else this story brings forth, the fact that we for many years now, and I'm 68 years old...have been so brainwashed by the Church, and by our parents, that sex is dirty and not be be talked about...that some people are actually turned off and embarrassed by the sexual scenes.

That to me is a shame, sex is normal, and good, and if women would stop withholding sex from their husbands, maybe their husbands wouldn't run around. When you look at nature, and seriously study their sexual habits, scientifically, sex, is for procreation...a profound and wonderful gift, and even more miraculous, we human's have been given the gift of complete enjoyment from sex. It is to me, one of the greatest gifts from God, and human beings have to stop with the crazy idea, that sex is wrong. It is not.

My sister made the comment about Claire being oversexed, and she isn't, she knows what her man needs and desires, and feels if she's going along for the ride, she may as well enjoy it, and is wise to understand the fact that the chains that bind are, by our own doing.

I have older neighbors that would not watch the show b/c of that....sex is natural and a part of life, if it were not true, then how in the hell did they have kids?

A marriage begins to fall a part when a women with holds sex from their life partner, which is so unfair....a man needs sex, and wants to be held and loved in that way, just as much as any woman, probably more. And Claire also knows, how to keep it spicy...which also keeps the marriage going.

and if your a woman and haven't learned to enjoy it, then I suggest, you seek out help. But the sex scenes are a very real part of life....and gosh darn it, I'm single and don't date anymore....? But was raised the same way as some of you. I just don't understand, how the Church and our parents, sought out some dark side of sex, taking enjoyment away from women?
