Oh I was way back before some of them.... I went to the ABC Minors in the eastend of Glasgow every Saturday morning... what a great time it was , noisy and packed to the seams but fun..It would start off with a serial, usually Flash Gordon or Zorro, where we would all scream and cheer for the goodies.. and boo the baddies, Emperor Ming, then we d have to wait a full week to see if Flash got out the tank full of water and giant octopus... then wed have a B type short film that lasted about an hour... usually a Famous Five type... then the break or interval... pandemoneum.. all fighting for the ice cream lady who would be almost knocked over in the scramble to get to her..... The queues would be right up the aisles... then Uncle Mac would come onstage to entertain us , usually introducing a singing or dancing act.... the poor man couldnt be heard about the shouts and screams... After the entertainment onstage.. we had the big movie.. normally a cowboy or pirate film... then last of all a cartoon with Bugs Bunny... and all this for a sixpence in old money...
I loved fractured fairy tales and Mr peabody and sherman. I think these days they wouldn't go over at all because how many kids would even recognize the stories and events those were based on?
