Hi all
Soliciting suggestion on a TV show to watch.
Here's basic parameters.
Really like Game of Thrones. Made it through Arrow though found its format to be annoying because of continuous story line shifts. I actually like Daredevil.
I like Boardwalk Empire. I could do Spartacus style but it's pretty much a soft porn show. I really liked Star Gate until it all got to unwatchable for me SG Universe. Can't stand it.
No to Merlin.
So it's somewhere in good SciFi ( I got bored with Eureka and somehow don't really like Smallville) - Fantasy - gangsters realm. Rather not be watching multiple "rebels against aliens" shows, like Visitors.
If you have Netflix I've recently liked and watched Peaky Blinders, Revolution, The Originals, and Bitten.
Peaky Blinders is a British gangster type of series set in I believe the 1920's.
Revolution is a story about what happens to certain people after the power goes out. Not the best description, but best I can do quickly. I tried to watch it when it first aired but didn't think it'd be something I'd enjoy after watching one episode. Decided to give it a 2nd try when I saw it on Netflix, and I liked it more and more as season one progressed. Now wishing it had lasted longer than two seasons.
The Originals is about vampires, werewolves and witches set in New Orleans. Normally I don't go for those types of shows but this was well done.
Bitten also deals with werewolves and witches. Entertaining but probably my least favorite of the four.
Some people really like Blacklist. I've watched a couple episodes and it is well done. Not my favorite but entertaining.
My tastes are changing as I get 'slightly' older. I've been getting into some of the British/Australian shows on Acorn TV. That service cost $4.99 month and is well worth it if you like British television shows. They have quite a few detective series, like George Gently that I recently started watching and like, as well as other shows and documentaries. As I mentioned in the Acorn TV thread A Place to Call Home is a series based in Australia in the 1950's that is very good.
Daredevil on Netflix is pretty good-lots of action. The Returned (also on Netflix) is also good. It's a French series so there is subtitles. It moves kind of slow, but there's just something about it that really captivates me.
Yeah, I tried Peaky Blinders and couldn't make it far through it. British accent overwhelms me.
Yes, I do have Netflix, but it lags badly behind. I have better site that is technically on the heels of shows that just went on cable.
I'll check Dominion out. Looks like Legion the movie. Archangels saving child. There was several movies like this. I'm in Boardwalk Empire season 3 right now, but TV is in "open design living room" what basically means that kitchen is part of it and mi esposa do not appreciate some language or, gods save, some nudity.
No, no vampires, thank you. Tired of that. All that zombie vampire thing is out of proportion as is.
Any good martial arts? I don't think anyone ever made anything past Kung Fu, and that show sucked terribly anyway. I tried Banshee but it made me go away from it in about 30 minutes. Come to think.. I may look into Blade....
There was also some show about a house that travels through alternative realities, but I think they didn't go past pilot.Just to add more parameters - I really liked Marvel's Agents of the SHIELD but I have all seasons behind me.
Watch Power on Starz. The 2nd season is really good.
