I think Zach Braff is an incredibly talented guy..who (at least in terms of acting) has totally lost his way since "Scrubs". I tried watching his new sit-com ("Alex, Inc) and just turned it off half way through the second episode.

That's exactly how far I made it. The pilot was ok, I know sitcoms can be challenging to put everything in place, but it earned a second episode. E2 was just blah. Stupid, full of cliches. The part where his two "assistants" were setting up competing appointments was just too over-the-top stupid.

I'm always looking for a good sitcom so I tried it. I thought the first episode showed some promise, but the second one reminded me of end of a multi-season series when it is obvious the writers have run out of material.
Every part of it was stupid and contrived, from the partner taking the knitting class (yeah, right) to the really dull podcast (I predict 3 followers, two of whom are related to him) to the ridiculous notion that a normal preteen boy would want to dress as Eleanor Roosevelt. Seriously, who read the script for this episode and said, "Oh yeah, that'll have 'em rolling in the aisles?"

His singing isn't half bad either. I saw him in a musical a few years ago on Broadway. Obviously, he is not going to start a recording career, but it was good enough to pull it off in a Broadway show and there were other people on stage who did have excellent voices to carry the musical part of the show.
I'll try to catch his new sitcom. It comes on right after Roseanne so the network gave it a good spot.

I'd say it's a terrible slot. The kind of audience that watches Roseanne is probably not going to stick around for a very nerdy comedy.
