I wasn't sure if I was going to watch this right away or not. I've been aware of the novel for a LONG time, and many people had recommended it, but I never got around to reading it. So I thought maybe I'd read the book first. But, it aired last night again after John Oliver's show, so I ended up watching it.
Yeah, it was depressing, but I figured it would be. It was good enough. I'll continue watching, at least for now.

Talking on the phone to my oldest daughter tonight I mentioned that I had started watching. She told me that a while back I told her about the book and said how good it was. I thought the beginning seemed familiar (the library surgery incident). It sucks being old with a poor memory. Guess I need to continue watching......

Finished the first episode. Very intense and well acted. I definitely read the book some time in the past. Wish I could remember more from reading it but apparently the show follows the book closely enough that it is coming back to me.
The book was around 900 pages. A good story. I wonder how many episodes there will be. I like how it's more sophisticated looking showing the same actor playing two parts. He'll probably get an Emmy nod.
Another great episode. It's a really good show. Very well acted.
