This year I began watching the 1990s series Party Of Five, and now I've seen the first 2 seasons.
Its the best acting I've ever seen in a TV series with actors/actresses of this age group (teens-20s).
There is nothing unique about the story arcs, but (unlike Shameless) there is no comedic tone at all........so everything is very serious and intense.......and very natural, not forced at all.
Also, the characters are more unique and unpredictable, unlike the cliched characters you often see of young people.

My daughter was born at 8:20pm on a Wednesday in 1999 and at 9pm, I remembered Party Of Five was on and I asked the nurse to turn on the TV so I could watch it while they were stitching me up!!!
I loved that show - it was really unique at the time. And I LOVED how all the siblings looked alike, there wasn't a blond one.

This was a great teen drama in the 90s!

I think its more realistic than other shows because the characters in POF have a lot of mood swings, just as people do in real life........and there is not always an event to trigger the mood swing, it just happens.
Whereas other shows pigeonhole the characters too much and have one character known for being happy, one known for being angry, etc.
POF characters are harder to predict the reactions of........because their moods vary from episode to episode or within an episode.

I loved that show. I rewatched it recently, I forgot how depressing it was.

Yeah its a very different tone to the relatively jokey Beverly Hills 90210.

Here for the Party of 5
But seriously one of the most underrated shows in TV History. I personally liked how the show flew under the radar sort of speak.

And, all the characters were good looking.

Especially Matthew Fox....who went on to star in Lost.

Its interesting to me that a MAGA person likes a sensitive teen show from the 1990s.

The actors that played each member of the family were not teenagers when filming the 1st Season (1994).
Matthew Fox was 28.
Scott Wolf was 26.
Neve Campbell was 21.
Lacey Chabert was 12.

And only ONE of the characters was at school by the 3rd Season (and the series ran for 6 seasons).
So its mostly a young adult show, not teen.
There is a 2020 version of the show, but I haven't tried it, and I tend not to watch remakes.

Party Of Five is the only show from the 1990s that I've seen within the last 10 years-
Better Call Saul
Bloodline
Breaking Bad
Chance
Cobra Kai
Dexter
Dead To Me
Eastbound And Down
Fargo
Homeland
Line Of Duty
Luther
Party Of Five
Servant
The Sopranos
