I watch MORE British TV then I do anything else, not just the comedies. I love BBCAmerica.

I used to have to catch them late night on PBS but now we have BBCAmerica and I LOVE it.

I have even started my daughter on Monty Python. My daughter used to watch Keeping Up Appearances with my Mother and now says that is her favorite show.

Not certain the British ever found him funny....

On a more contemporary note:

Peep Show
That Mitchell & Webb Look
Teachers (comedy drama)
Nathan Barley

The latter not shown in the U.S. I think but all freely available on the internet, not that I'd know anything about that, because I don't.

I love Keeping Up Appearances, but it hasn't been on either PBS station here or BBC America in many months. I wonder why?

And has anyone seen one of the Christmas specials? I never have, but they're on DVD. I guess I just have to buy the DVD someday.

Not a sitcom as such but my favourite has to be "Jeeves and Wooster".

The best British sitcom ever has to be "Yes Minister" and "Yes , Prime Minister". I am also a big fan of "As time goes by" and "lead Balloon" .

I also love "Smith and Jones", "Blackadder" , "Colin Sandwich", "To the Manor Born", "The Good life", "Ever decreasing circles", "One foot in the grave", "waiting for God", "Black books", "My family" and of course "Mr Bean", "The thin blue line", "Chef!", "So haunt me", "2 point 4 Children","Drop the dead donkey", "Rab C Nesbitt", "The fall and rise of Reginald Perrin" etc...

I love Marcus Brigstocke's "News Knight" and shows like QI ( do you get that in the US?) , "Have I got news for you?" etc..
