I just watched the first episode of this, compelling TV. The producer was on Charlie Rose the other night and it sounded interesting so I tuned in. I'm usually not much for "medical" shows, I've never watched the current one with Heigl and I only ever saw two or three episodes of Chicago Hope, although I admit I used to like ER, although that was more to see Sherry Stringfield than anything else.
It focused on 3 doctors and their patients, a cardio resident, a (very pretty, blonde) urologist and a brain surgeon. He's considered to be one of the top brain guys in the US, and let's face it, he's at Johns Hopkins so he's got to be very good. Funny thing is that 20 years ago he was just another illegal immigant picking tomatoes in CA.
I caught it last night, too, and it certainly held my interest -- hubby and I had crawled into bed, tired, and it didn't put me to sleep. I loved the storyline with the brain surgeon, too, and was glad to see the doctors' lives portrayed as 'difficult' as what they truly are. I hope eventually the cardiologist and his PA wife will be able to work it out for the sake of the family. Perhaps they are just in one of 'those tight spots' a marriage sometimes sinks to, at the moment. The urologist had me laughing, fer sure, with her witty comments and sharing the story of her Irish Catholic mother questioning her choice of specialty.
It will be interesting to watch, but I am not sure it will sustain my interest, as I had a difficult time with the surgery scenes -- not squeamish, but just not what I want to see on TV when I choose to be 'entertained,' I guess. I like the fantasized drama of the kid doctors on Grey's Anatomy -- almost another soap opera set in a hospital, I guess.
I watched that last night. I thought the urologist was funny but felt bad for the poor guy having his exam..didn't quite know what to say.
I'll definately watch it again as long as it doesn't get too gory.
I thought it was a good show too. interesting to see "real" doctors and their stories.
