I don't think its supposed to be ridiculously campy. I'm not sure it was.
The guy with his face pumping up and down in the girls crotch? Is that camp? The meat Wicker Man? campy or stupid?
All opinions of course. I think the Paris Hilton age is the tgt audience and that happens with TV and movies, perhaps more with books. I wonder if Charlaine Harris really anticipated that.
I'm confused. Who is this Paris Hilton crowd/age you keep referring too? As far as I know, Paris Hilton is old news and wasn't popular with anyone but herself and the paparazzi anyway.

There is an interesting article in EW about True Blood, the fans, Charlaine Harris and even Eric. It was interesting to read how and why she developed the setting, the characters and Sookie's "disability" as she calls it. And according to their hot vampire poll, Eric is even more popular than Edward Cullen. That surprised me a little. I also read somewhere that Charlaine chose Allan Ball herself and is delighted with the direction that he has taken the series and why wouldn't she. I'm sure her fan base continues to explode as more and more people watch True Blood.

3D,
You have to let us know if your opinion changes after you watch the 1st season.

1. Jason, Andy and Sam (yelling "Smite me mother f-er!") and then disappearing, then reappearing naked in an apron putting out the flares causing Andy to say, "that's my last drink".

That was a great line I'm glad Bill was able to bring Tara back from oblivion or whatever state she was in. Sunday's ep was really good. Can't wait until next Sunday! Hoyt's mom wow! I wonder what's gonna happen.

And what was the flash of light that Sookie was able to do to Maryanne's face?

Was there something to Tara's mom praying? When Tara was tied up and you could see her praying through Tara's eyes, was the prayer getting through?

Bill and Sookie can't go to every Bon Temps resident and work on them like they did Tara, so I am not sure how they're gonna get out of this one. The vamps can't bite Maryanne and kill her.

There may be something to those with Vampire blood (Sookie, LaFayette, Jason) that keeps them out of the zombie phase, but then what about Andy and Sam?

Changes about who? Bill or Eric?

It seems like those who are Eric fans like him because of the books. I'm just basing my opinion on season 2 (ripping the redneck guy to shreds, calling Bill's maker (can't remember her name) to keep him trapped while he sent Sookie out to possibly be killed). He has had a few funny moments...the one where he was having his hair highlighted and was worried about the blood getting into his hair was pretty funny.

I can't wait to see what extraordinary powers the queen possesses that will get rid of Marianne. Something in her "bite" maybe to neutralize that icky black goo.

I don't know, but Maryann got really turned on by Sookie's shock treatment!

Well, I think you will see everyone in a different light, but mainly Eric. He became much more likable to me at the end of season 1. Although it was brutal, there was a reason he punished the redneck guy. You have missed so much of the story of how everyone came to this point.

Half the posts on this thread consist of

"He's Hot!"
Another 25% consist of some other verbage plus "He's Hot!"

It seems to be the main attraction of the whole show to a certain segment/age group and the primary thing communicated in two words.

And lets face it - they could have taken almost any vampire script with decent writing, put in some really good looking guys and extra soft romantic porn scene's and its going to be wildly popular with a huge segment.

Vampires have always been popular - handsome, suave wicked men taking control of Victorians with pale necks and heaving bosums.......
