I watched 3 back to back shows of 'Lockdown', 1 was Inside Maximum Security (I think), Gangland and Predators Behind Bars....In one of the episodes, I think it was the Gangland one, the officer was talking about shanks and how the inmates use them etc...etc...If anyone else saw these episodes, did you catch the one line made by the officer where he motioned at his throat 'as if to show how an inmate might slash someone's neck' and he said "it can slice you aorta'.... Anyone who's ever taken biology in high school knows very well that your aorta is in your chest!!! It's such a small thing but it bothered me!! I was yelling at the TV....this is rare for me....but it was such a dumb comment and to not correct it on a supposed documentary was absurd!! ARG!! I know, let it go.....my husband insits an officer will not correct himself, so that's a no brainer but the editors should've left that out I think...Sorry, need to vent...It always bothers me how these documentaries and supposed 'learning' shows get stuff wrong like that. I mean, if you're going to clue in the general public, shouldn't your knowledge at least be accurate?
correctional officers are sometimes not the brightest crayon in the box......i know, i married one, and have worked in the prison system for years. but please yall, i am not saying that there are not intelligent CO's out there!

When I told my husband about it, he laughed, but said, 'Nope, and we WON'T correct ourselves". It wasn't so much that the CO said something dumb...I mean we all do, being officers or not, but the editors should've caught it and omitted it. Kinda sends a negative message to the general public about CO or officers in general. So really, it's the editors of the show I blame. Here's me making a big deal out of nothing...sorry... LOL

Documentaries shouldn't be edited to omit stuff like this. The point of a documentary is to show real people and real situations and sometimes real people make mistakes.
These shows are still going strong and I still love watching 'em.

I don't think it's the editor's responsibility to promote the intelligence of COs, they simply broadcast what he said. Lockup is supposed to be cinema verite true? It may not have been factually correct but it is what the correction officer said.
