Haven't watched SNL in years...never was a big fan of Sammy. He acted too much like Frankie's lap dog.

That's a little misleading.

1) He was not in Blackface
2) He is from the South. Have you ever been to a protestant or pentacostal church in the south? I would say it is a stereotypically SOUTHERN preacher. White or Black, the type tends to sound the same.

he really owed Frankie a lot, Sinatra helped to integrate Vegas ,not only so Sammy could work , but his black friends and family could come watch him.

Well, if that's true, it's highly commendable. But you can't MAKE me like Sinatra, I just can't!!!

As an Australian, I found this 'awkward' at best. I didn't watch the show as I'm not a fan but had I seen that, I would have cringed. It was particularly insensitive (or downright stupid) to have a guest American judge on the show at the time. It seems much of my country is unaware of the historical context of Blackface. Hence all the comments on online news sites asking what the big deal is, and complaining that this is political correctness gone mad. I find it quite ironic that everyone likes to say how Americans are so ignorant of other countries and cultures, yet we've shown ourselves to be just that.

We are quite unPC here and have an irreverent sense of humour but it can cross the line into insensitivity or worse.

I've seen the preacher skit of Harry's but I don't see how that is the same as Blackface minstrels. But then that's perhaps because I lived in Canada for much of my life, where it's very PC and cultural sensitivity is ingrained. Living next door to you guys, one couldn't help but be exposed to a lot of American culture Plus, I've always been fond of your country and have taken an interest in your history.

I don't know what to say. I can't really apologise for my country, as it seems most of us don't get it. Maybe we'll grow up some day and stop being so insular in our thinking.

This was a one-off special. "Hey Hey" hasn't been on the air for about 10 years. Unfortunately this will probably put the nail in the coffin, of it ever coming back on air again?

I don't suppose you've seen Family Guy too often.

Well that's racist too -- somebody contact the ADL and let's get them banned!
