I grew up watching Georgia Championship Wrestling with Gordon Solie,Southeastern Wrestling out of Knoxville Tennessee,Mid South Wrestling out of Memphis and the WWF. My 5 favorite Wrestlers were:
1)Mr Wrestling II
2)Dusty Rhodes
3)Bruno Sammartino
4)Jerry Lawler
5)Wahoo Mcdaniels
I was raised on the AWA...The Crusher (R.I.P), Mad Dog Vachon, Baron Von Raschke, Verne Gagne, Road Warriors
Once I got cable I loved Georgia Champ Rasslin. Fave was Junkyard dog.
I noticed that all the bad guys were from the North, Ric Flair was from my area. In the AWA most of the villians were southerners or foreigners. Ahhh the good old days of stereotyping.
The Samoans
Andre the Giant
Chief Jay Strongbow
Ivan Koloff
George (the Animal) Steele
Lou Albano
Superstar Billy Graham
Dusty Rhodes
One memory in particular, long ago, we went to a match and was waiting outside to say hi to the wrestlers, shook hands with the Samoans, next thing you know I felt someone's presence directly behind me and heard a grrrrlllllll...low and behold it was Hulk Hogan.
I would get upset when tag teams would cheat and the referee "wouldn't notice." My Dad would laugh at my distress and try to tell me it was fake but I wouldn't believe him

How could I have forgotten those names??? Thanks, sabby!
LOL, i haven't heard his name since the early 80's as that brought back memories
Anyway i always liked the NWA as it always featured Ric Flair vs Harley Race vs Dusty Rhodes for the title
A few of my faves :
Kerry Von Erich
King Kong bundy
The Missing Link
Terry Funk and Dory Funk Jr.
The Fabulous Thunderbirds (Terry Gordie, Buddy Roberts, Michael P.S. Hayes)
Kamala the Ugandian Giant (Best ring entry theme song)
I grew up watching NWA and used to buy a buttload of wrestling mags. I remember all the people you guys have mentioned already but my favorites were The Four Horsemen. Ric, Arn, Ole & Tully! Whooo!!!
I was such a dummy I couldn't figure out why those guys didn't get arrested for beating up Dusty Rhodes in the parking lot!
I had the privilege of watching Wrestlemania I for free. The closed circuit system where they were going to show it broke down so they broadcast it on a regular channel in Pittsburgh.
