The movie OUTSOURCED is great, funny with heart, I recommend it to all. I've been watching the show though, and it is a pretty weak copy. I don't know what they will do when they run out of ideas from the movie. It also has a little different tone, I don't find the charactors very likeable. It may get better though. The American OFFICE started like the UK one, but morphed and grew over time, I prefer it to the UK now.

I've been viewing mostly to see Deidrich Bader who is very funny.
At the same time it's disturbing to have a Network show that tries to make the outsourcing of American jobs cute and and endearing. Unemployment in California is 12% and about 9% in the rest of the U.S. That's not a laughing matter!!

Part of me feels the same way, Aqua but it also makes me laugh and I need that also.

I read somewhere that the "outsorcing" is backfiring now. Indians are demanding more pay and some companies are bringing jobs back home. Let's hope they all do that.

It is true that some companies are bringing jobs back here. I have the NYT article reporting that info. "Outsource" makes me laugh, too.

For a conservative I'm not at all patriotic. (Actually I'm not patriotic by most standards of the US political spectrum) I'm glad if poor Indians can get jobs and get out of a poverty more dire than anything Michigan has to offer. I mean if that's what it does.

Anyway the show's okay. The main American character is a bit blah for me, but the guy from Drew Carey is funnier. I'm impressed that they're willing to do a show set outside the US as I think audiences are traditionally uncomfortable with that. (Unless it's like "MASH" where they're overseas, but the focus is US medics or soldiers) Although take that aside and it's kind of just "Newsradio" or "The Office" with a fish-out-of-water element ala "Northern Exposure."

I'm enjoying this show. I like any show that develops interesting characters and I really like some of these. Gupta and the quiet lady crack me up. She can do more with her face than many actors can do with words.

Thomas & Minerva, glad to see someone else besides me is watching for entertainment factor.

Dh & I are LOVING the show. It's hilarious. The scream the quiet girl did the other day? AWESOME. "Get up!" was awesome (my dh hasn't stopped saying it yet). And of course there's Gupta. He's awesome. And the manager? I LOVE him. When he kept packing up Todd's stuff the other day? I couldn't stop laughing.

I love the show. It does portray call centers a bit differently than they actually work. My colleagues in India work at night to work technically the same time period as those of us in the U.S. I will talk to them from time to time and it will be 2 a.m. their time. I cannot imagine.

Regardless, I can't think of one episode that I didn't laugh nearly the entire time. They must have some pretty good writers.

I don't see why they should... and there isn't any stereotyping, it's reality.
I'm wondering if they have an episode where the work gets pulled from them and passed on to the next low cost country..... like China or Mexico ?

I think the characters are stereotyped a little, but more in sitcom ways than ethnic ways. (The dumb guy, the pervy guy, the scheming guy, the supportive gal, etc)

I know it's just a TV show, but I find something a little off putting about the whole concept of it ........ can't really bring myself to watch it
