My husband is being transferred from Oklahoma to Tyler area. We have three young kids (6,3,1) and need to know more about the schools and towns. We are going to take a look this weekend but need to know which towns we should look more into and which ones to avoid. His area will be from Shreveport to Tyler and down to Carthage Texas. Thanks

Bullard, Whitehouse, Lindale

Just curious, do you want to be in the middle of that area, or just nearer one or the other cities? What else is important? Tyler is the center, other than and Shreveport for shopping, medical facilities with the only Level One Trauma Hospital, ETMC, Zoo, housing choices. The above three schools are at the city limits of Tyler. More if we can help, good luck. Oh, if you want, Tyler has 6 private schools. List if you want.

Anywhere in that area is good. Our main concern is being away from crime and a safe area for our kids. We have always lived out in the country of small towns in secluded areas. However we are thinking more of moving into a neighborhood that has bigger lots(maybe creeks to play in even) but isn't actually secluded from others so our kids have others to play with since family/cousins will be many hours away. We like to fish, atv riding and hunting on weekends. Shopping isn't super important but it would be nice to have a decent mall within 45 minutes.

So far on our list is Lindale, Chandler, Whitehouse and Carthage

Chandler is ten minutes from the Tyler Loop but is a small town. The elementary and middle schools have exemplary ratings. You probably should check out Chandler as well as Whitehouse and Lindale.

I've lived in Whitehouse and prefer Chandler over it.

We are going to check out the area this weekend. Any information would be great on these towns…

Lindale
Whitehouse
Chandler
Carthage
Henderson
Kilgore

Schools and friendliness of people towards outsiders is two of our main concerns
