In PR, at the DMV/DTOP, do they keep the copies of your documents or hand them back?
Such as the copies of your Birth Certificate, the Driver's License application form, etc that you present when you get a new Driver's Licence. Do they scan them and give them back or do they keep the copies and file them?
I can't imagine they keep them. It's almost impossible in many areas to even get a copy of a PR birth certificate (unrelated, but just sayin'). They'll probably confirm the birth certificate and return it, keep the license application and take your money.
With a likely 1+ million licensed drivers in PR, I was hoping to get a more definitive answer, not to "imagine" or "probably." Certainly a number of readers of the PR forum would have gone through the process and know the standard operating procedure, without having to guess or imagine.
Its easy to get a copy of a birth certificate as copy machines are easy to find.
