The rum they make in Cuba is produced by a company that was confiscated and nationalized by the government during the revolution. The Cuban government, in partnership with the French company , Pernod Ricard sells its Havana Club products internationally, except in the United States and its territories but they don' have the original recipe of the Arechabala family.
I personally think Don Q is a better rum. Now that is made and originated in P.R......Puerto Rico has been making rum since the 16th century.
