sure and left when the communists confiscated every property and business and bank accounts in the island. Bacardi has the original recipe from the Arechabala family, it's made in Puerto Rico.


The rum they make in Cuba is produced by a company that was confiscated and nationalized by the government during the revolution. The Cuban government, in partnership with the French company , Pernod Ricard sells its Havana Club products internationally, except in the United States and its territories but they don' have the original recipe of the Arechabala family.


I personally think Don Q is a better rum. Now that is made and originated in P.R......Puerto Rico has been making rum since the 16th century.

Good rich flavor without the added sugar or molasses flavoring some mfg mix in after distilling/aging. More recently the dark Havana Club distilled by Bacardi has become a favorite but I believe it does have added sugar.

I enjoy Barrilito three star, it's an excellent rum for sipping and mixing lightly. as with a lot of things, Puerto rico does not do a great job with marketing the things it does well. I prefer Puerto rican coffee over cuban coffee as well. A lot of effort is spent, in my view, in marketing pride in the island (pittsburgh does a lot of this as well) but not enough in the products and things people can buy into more literally (and create income).

Bacardi-they have definitely done a better job recently of bringing interesting products to market. the same with Don Q, ever since they lost the captain morgan's contract. some of that is changing tastes.

Puerto Rico could unite with Cuba after the USA goes bankrupt and loses its territories. Another possibility is Cuba splits into several nations or less organized entities. Sea level may rise enough to cover most of Cuba and separate what's left into a few smaller islands.

if the USA goes bankrupt the world would go into WW 3......Who do you think is the glue that holds the world from destroying each other.


Europe already started 2 World Wars and if we leave how long you think it will take them until they start hating each other and invading each other again. Don't get me started with China and Russia.
