As best I can tell, a jibaro is a farm laborer or small farmer, usually of Canarian ancestry. (Islas Canarias).

not extinct. i think you meant Canary Islands?

a jibaro is a man who lives in el campo. he grows some food. has a goat or a few chickens. he can fix anything. not perfectly but it'll work. he knows where the best mango trees are. his machete is sharp and well used. he is proud, takes care of his family and will give you the shirt off his back.
