I called the Massachusetts Extensions line today as my balance hit $0 for this week. The representative told me he had to put my info onto a hardcopy application due to their system not being ready to accept extensions that expired while Congress fought it out.
Once the system is set up, they will have a team of people manually enter the extension applications. Until then, I was advised to continue making my weekly claim certifications to keep checking my status online as the data will update once my info is entered.
He told me they have given their agents no time frame for when their IT will have the system configured & then have all of the extension applications manually entered.
I just wanted to pass on the information but please add any additional you may have or thoughts on the subject.

I called in today because well, I have nowhere to be. I thought maybe a nice agent, which I find most of them have been extremely helpful, empathetic & understanding, might give me an update on when the system would be ready to send me a payment.
I tried several times throughout the day because...same reason as above. I don't think the extensions line was taking calls at all. The "sorry you're not getting thru on this call" message has been changed from what it was earlier in the week. Also, I call A LOT so 1 of them should have gone thru.
I'm hoping that they aren't taking calls at all today so that they can get their agents to enter all of the hardcopy applications I mentioned in my original post.
Online, my claim has not updated to show an extension has been applied to my balance.
If you have any other info, I'd be very appreciative to know what you've found.

Thanks for the heads up! I will be in the same boat if the system is not fixed in a few weeks.

Good luck!

My pleasure.
As long as you move into your next tier by June 2, you will be ok. Hopefully, Congress will just buckle down & get extensions approved through the end of the year & then we won't have this kind of stress to deal with on top of all of the other issues of finding employment & keeping a roof over our heads.

Unfortunately, my hope that they were getting things taken care of yesterday, instead of taking calls, was wrong.
I got through on my very first call today. I was again instructed to keep entering my weekly certifications & to keep checking back on the status. The agents have still not been given a timeframe for when the system will be set up for the expired extensions.
Now, I'm starting to freak out.

I now find that this issue was faced at the end of Nov. 2009 & the unemployment department had to get special permission from the U.S. Dept. of Labor to send out "interim" payments as their systems would not be updated until Jan. 15, 2010. Locals on unemployment will need to wait till Dec. 15 to tap into extended benefits - Daily Business Update - The Boston Globe
I hope they learned from last time. I'll be homeless in 6 plus weeks.

Boston here, I am on my second week of Tier III w/o a check.
Last Tuesday 04/20 I was told by an agent to to keep claiming and to call in two weeks is no checks were deposited.......TWO WEEKS!
I was also told told to ignore the message that I am getting when I claim, "Our records indicate you have no benefits on this claim, if you are still unemployed after saturday Feb 06 2010 and you have worked in the past 15 months, you may file a new claim"...............WHAT?
Are you guys getting a similar message?
