My first thread in this forum in so long. I have a question so here it goes.
Earlier this month I applied for unemployment insurance in the State of California . It's Friday as I'm typing this, I received in the mail on Monday, an Award Letter detailing how much my weekly would be IF I end up being approved, CalJobs information, how to use UI online, and a general overview of my claim and what to do from this point on.
I know I may be approved or denied, that I may be assigned a phone interview. I have yet to receive my EDD Bank of America card.
My question is if I reported my wages after taxes instead of gross pay(before taxes and deductibles), is there anyway I can correct it or will that even further delay my claim? I figured now is the time before I am either approved and receive payments or denied and I'll have to appeal?
Honestly my weekly amount is not low at all, but why short change myself due to a mistake?
EDD doesn't use your self reported numbers. They use what is reported by your employer on its quarterly reporting.
If you think your benefit could be higher, then you use the award letter, and compare your numbers with what EDD has and you file a monetary appeal if you think the numbers are too low.

This makes sense, thanks. I'll check it out and see.
