A Discharge Resolution is defined as "a special motion in the Senate that any senator may introduce to relieve a committee from consideration of a bill before it. The resolution can be called up for Senate approval or disapproval in the same manner as any other Senate business." So is there any hope left for this bill before they leave?
No.

After his initial objection, LeMieux apparently had the bill read to him because he shifted gears and then vehemently objected to the categorization of the additional unemployment benefits as "emergency spending" that would add to the deficit. The Republicans rallied around him, and blocked any further effort. The Democrats so far have declined calling for cloture to force a vote on the bill.

THIS IS THE LATEST BILL OUT THERE. I WOULD THINK IT WILL GET APPROVED EVENTUALLY WITH ALL THE OTHER THINGS INCLUDED IN AT THAT FOR SURE CONGRESS WILL WANT TO PASS.

KINDLY ADD YOUR UPDATES AS YOU HAVE THEM.

S.3706 - Americans Want to Work Act
A bill to extend unemployment insurance benefits and cut taxes for businesses to create hiring incentives, and for other purposes.

Since the Senate expects to adjourn before the expiration of the waiting time required by the cloture process -- and since both chambers of Congress will be in adjournment for 6-7 weeks -- there are no reports of any plans to invoke cloture at this time on S.3706.

its likely that it wont be heard again until after november. My guess is that the current EUC Tiers will be addressed first or both could be tied to larger bills like the tax cuts/

Actually, S.3706 is not the "latest" Tier V bill. There are currently two bills pending in Congress that would add a Tier V to the EUC Tiers program:

• The Americans Want to Work Act (S.3706), introduced in the Senate in August by Senator Debbie Stabenow, which would provide 20 additional weeks of benefits in states with three-month average unemployment rates of at least 7.5%, and

• The Emergency Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2010 (HR 6091), introduced in the House in August 2010 by Representatives Jim McDermott and Shelley Berkley, which would also provide 20 additional weeks of benefits -- but in states with three-month average unemployment rates of at least 10%.

How can this add to the deficit when this money comes out of workers paychecks and or through federal income tax. Will someone let these politicians know this instead of them trying to mislead the american public. Most workers are entitled to social sec., unemployment, medicare, medicaid, welfare because workers of america pay into these programs. Maybe the politicians don't pay into it and they don't realize that when workers are laid off and their is not hiring going on that they are entitled to all of the above.

They had time to pass legislation on how loud TV commercials can be, but did nothing for the unemployed. Take all our money going to the lame overseas programs and divert it to the US.

Yeah, unlimited unemployment is an entitlement, and entitlements don't count towards the deficit, so what's the problem? It's so simple - how could those politicians not understand?

According to this article, Tier V is not dead. Well, maybe it's not dead, but it seems to be on life-support....
