Greetings, thanks in advance for the help.

So here's the deal:

My benefit calculator says I'm entitled to 88 weeks.

As of today I've received 87 weeks of unemployment. I registered today so that will make 88 in total this Wednesday.

My remaining balance says I have $2430 left. Minus the $405 of this week and I will still have enough for 5 weeks left.

My question is: is this left over money from EB and will I be entitled? You never get a straight answer from the call center so I dunno. Just wondering if I will just get cut off and not be entitled to the remaining balance?

I was registering for EB when it ended.

Thanks again.

NJ has credited your account w/6 weeks Tier 4. You've used one, therefore five remain. Ignore the benefit calculator. You may or may not have been receiving EB when NJ ceased paying 7/7. It is irrelevant at this point.

Any Qs, call NJ.

No. NY is paying Tier 4. NY hasn't been paying EB since 6/10.

Yes what I think happened was when EB was available in April 2012 it superseded my tier three where I had 5 weeks left. The EB then went to July and I had the remainder of the Tier III now with the Tier IV.

Honestly, you've been more helpful than any call to their call center.

THANK YOU.

This did not happen. There was absolutely no reason, none, for NY to interrupt Tier 3 payments in April to begin paying you EB. EB is only paid in some states as a last resort during a legislative lapse. There was NO legislative lapse in April.

In order to have an accurate understanding of your claim, you need to evaluate:
  1. Original date of claim.
  2. Did you work during your claim, thus extending number of weeks over which benefits were paid. You still receive the same $$ overall monetary award, just over a longer period of time.
  3. Are you on the first claim, or was another opened at the bye of the first claim due to new earnings.
  4. Was there a period of time you did not claim.
For now, you are exhausting Tier 4. You may very well have collected 87/93 weeks, but never have received EB if you've worked off and on and extended your payments over one or more claims.

You're right. I'm on Tier IV. Original claim date was November 1. That means I'm going to finish Tier IV and have a remaining balance of $2,040 but not entitled to it. Must be computer glitch with EB.

I'll keep certifying but I have a feeling next week which will be week 89 it's going to tell me my claim is finito!

Thanks for your help! I'll post what happens!

P.S.S. I did have to start a new claim I believe in April of 2011. The work stop people told me to do so. Not sure why but I did to answer your questions.

Please stop saying you aren't entitled to your remaining balance. Why would you say that? It is not so. All federal benefits to which you might be entitled by virtue of any existing claims can be paid out until 12/29/2012.

Please read FAQS, post 5.
