No, when you quit, it is your financial responsibility, not the taxpayers.

Many adults have problems at work and must learn to deal with all kinds of people when they have professional careers.

If you quit your job and you want unemployment, you must have had a good reason for quitting plus be able to prove this.

you don't pay in to unemployment , your employer does . if you quit , unless there are special reasons ,you cannot collect and your employer can contest it if you try as they have to approve it ..

It does not matter how long you've been a taxpayer, if you quit your job you can NOT collect unemployment.

It is possible to quit your job and get unemployment benefits if your employer makes significant changes in your job such as:

Changes your work shift and changing shifts were not an understood part of your job
Lowers your rate of pay
Reduces your work hours and it significantly reduces your pay
Changes your job duties significantly (example changes a secretary to a a janitor)
Sexually harass you *if you complain to HR and there is no remedy
Requires you to make physical efforts that were not required before (like lifting 20 lbs several times a day) or moves your work station to a noise deafening spot (again you must have proof of complaining with not results)

By the way, all states have different rules on unemployment. You have to go to your state's unemployment webpage and see what the rules are. Google the webpage.

Despite being in the wrong section, I will To try to answer your question{s}:

I will assume by this time of my posting that you have had your interview and are awaiting a "yay" or "nay" paper. Unemployment is an insurance against an employer putting you out of work in an ill manner {layoff, firing for no legitimate reason, closing/out of business, etc}. IT is NOT insurance against not having a job period.

1} AS noted, each state has differing rules on unemployment, check with yours.

2} generally, if one QUITS their job, they are NOT eligible for Unemployment

3} generally one has to have had worked at least 1000 hours {20 hours per week minimum} within the previous 6 month period to collect.

4] if you can prove your boss harassed you, AND you previously filed the proper reports to HR department or to the State Labor Board Harassment division, you MAY be able to quit and claim unemployment.

5} ALL employers pay a premium for their unemployment insurances. They WILL fight as the higher the number of claims against them, the higher their premium costs go. Be prepared.

I'd start looking for a new job, and be careful how you answer why you left your previous job. Stating it wasn't a ""good fit" can buy you time, but they will want to know *what* wasn't a good fit...
To simply claim your old boss harassed you won't wash if you haven't filed the proper documentations backing up your claim with the proper authorities/channels.

Best of Luck to you
