To start, I should have read this forum before I took the phone interview i had a couple weeks ago.

So I was terminated from my job on 1/22. They told me in person that it was because I had been surfing the internet too much for their own liking. I filed my claim that day.

Had a phone interview on 2/14 and I admitted as such to the interviewer. My mistake I'm aware.

Today I received a letter saying I was denied via section 1256, because I was not performing the duties of my job as required.

I have the appeal form in front of me right now. What should I write in saying I disagree with the determination?

"The determination dated mm/dd/yy is wrong. I want an appeal hearing scheduled."

Hope for an in-person hearing and an apathetic employer. When you get the hearing notice, make arrangements to get the hearing packet/file about 3 days before your hearing. It gives you enough time to tell us what's in there so you can try to slant what you already might have said into something that looks less like misconduct or a big misunderstanding that it never happened.

I haven't received the letter stating when my hearing is. However I did receive a letter from EDD stating I received $0 for the weeks of February 11th and the 18th. They haven't sent me forms to fill out for unemployment. Is this normal?

Use the "ask EDD" link from the web page, and get those claim forms. If you win the appeal, and the claim forms aren't timely filed, then it just causes you additional work and delay later to get the money that you've been desperately waiting for.

Is it normal? Yeah, it does happen, but it's not right. Being denied and waiting on an appeal is NOT a good reason for EDD not to give you your claim forms on a timely basis. I guess before you ask for the forms, can you try to do webcert or telecert and use that as a workaround. You want to use those other methods anyways and save stamps, and risk of mail delays.

I'm registering for an online account now. It states that I need an EDD customer account number. I didn't keep that. I can find out by calling them I assume?

Mistake to not keep it, but calling EDD isn't pleasant. I think they still only work 8 am to 12 pm so forgot today, and start first thing tomorrow morning.

I actually found a number for a customer service department that told me my number. I'm going to find a claim form online right now.

So I don't see clam forms under the certify for benefits tab. All I see in the blue box is --

Certification Received

Your certification for 01/22/2017-01/28/2017 has been received.
