Hello I was recently extended a job offer by the previous employer I was claiming from EDD and I am to start in a couple days. Everything looks fine so far, however should I find myself terminated again from this employer would I have to open a new claim or start a new one?

If you have an active claim, it will be REopened. If it's expired, it will be a new one. If you have any doubts, the UI application knows what to do. However, if you know it's going to be a REopening, it's much quicker to call.

Were you fired from this employer in the past? If so, I'm pretty sure it's not a real job. They're just going to do a better job at getting you disqualified. Jobs from which you've been fired are 99% of the time unsuitable. Do you really want to go back? We can talk about it to make sure you're not in the 1%.

My claim is already expired, I was laid off and I was extended back the same position.

Then you'll just be filing a new claim, and you can do that online like you did the first time. There's no advantage to calling.

It all depends on exactly what date you filed your initial claim. If it has been more than ONE YEAR from that date, you would be filing a new claim. If it has been UNDER one year, you would be re-opening the claim.

If you have exhausted your benefit dollars, and are still within the one year time period, you would have to wait to file a new claim.
