I have a friend that lives in Alabama and he's a steamfitter. He often goes to places like California and Wisconsin to work because our local power company has subcontracted out their annual maintenance.
And he sometimes works 6 10's or 6 12's--making a bunch of money and paying into the unemployment system of the state he's been working in.
After those jobs are up, he'll often be unemployed for two or three months. And he has to file for unemployment in the state where he's been working.
What the state of Alabama is saying is that they don't want any double dippers filing in two states. Or sucking their system dry since they've not been receiving any unemployment funds from workers or their employers working in other states.
