I do freelance work through an online platform. When I get paid, the platform deducts a service fee. So one week I may earn $600, but after a $60 fee I only get $540.

When I'm certifying for UI, and they ask how much I've earned that week, do I say $600 or $540?

(I'm hoping I can say $540, since if I report less, my benefits will be more that week.)

If your 1099 reflects the gross amount with no fee deducted, you report the gross amount. If your 1099 reflects only the net amount, you report the net amount. If your not sure, get hold of the company and ask.
