My regular unemployment claim with NY expired in June. I filed for a fresh interstate claim (which I was eligible based on my wages) but instead of approving a new claim they put me on PUEC. They paid me for 13 weeks on PUEC and then sent me a letter that I may be eligible for Extended Benefits after this. I got a contract assignment so I did not apply for Extended Benefits. My assignment ended on December 31st and they let me go because the managers thought I am not a good fit for that role. My employer has not given me any reason for the ending of assignment.
I got another contract assignment from the same employer and the background check is going on. I will be in a project in a couple of weeks. Now my question is whether I can file for Extended Benefits for these two weeks??. Also do I need to show the reason as Laid off or Fired when I file for Extended Benefits??
I would really appreciate if someone could pitch in and provide some answers.
