I've been unemployed since November 2007, so come December I have to file a new claim for unemployment. I'm wondering how this is factored in the amount of my claim? I know last year when I filed my yearly claim it didn't effect the amount of my unemployment. I'm just trying to make sure it wont affect it this time with the new extension going through? If anyone knows, thanks!
Good to hear your in school. FYI a lot of students work part time. if you really want to work you will find it. Lowes, home Depot, Mcdonalds, Pizza delivery etc. Of course , it's not the kind of work you will enjoy but it's work.
Most students get student loans and grants instead of unemployment.
I know exactly who pays unemployment, it's not the goverment. You did not pay into the system. Unkown to you and to most, excluding the recent stimulus bills, it has been employers who pay into the unemployment system through State and Federal taxes. 940 and 941 if I reminber right.
FYI, I have always employed a college student and i work them around their schedule because I know the most important thing in their life is school and second is work/money.
If I was in Michigan I could find work,/money even if it was picking up beer cans for a living.
I think nobody has been unemployed as long as you. Your in no mans land, its never happened before. Possible world record.
Quite rude.
BUT, when you've been unemployed for two years, you really need to take stock of the situation and make some decisions. In the case of someone in an area like MI, the only realistic option might be to move to an area with better job prospects. Sometimes you've just got to know when to fold 'em as the old saying goes.

Quite right, but as mentioned earlier, I'm a college student that managed to get into a highly competitive program at my school.. I can't go anywhere till 2011.

Not sure where it's mentioned, not in this thread.
Post 5 talks generically about college students, it doesn't specifically talk about you--as far as I know, it was off-topic rambling. So I had no way of knowing it was specifically about you, because there is nothing you said in this thread until you decided to have a hissy fit at me because I don't know your life story off the top of my head.
