Am I correct to assume that if my unemployment claim/benefits first started on April 5, 2009 that is the begining of my benefit year? Thank you

Your "date of claim" is printed on your determination/benefit letter (and on your claim forms) and would fall on a Sunday (in most states). The benefit year lasts for twelve months at which time you must SPEAK to an agent to continue receiving benefits or to file a new claim. This is not to be confused with a "base year" which is what is used to determine your weekly amount for your benefit year.

Thanks, I think I was getting it confused with the base.
