I can't believe this, but I'm actually going to give this a serious answer.
I would be extremely wary.
If they publicly landed here, the chances are pretty good that they'd been scoping us out for awhile to begin with. You have to think about their motives. If it's a civilization sophisticated enough to do interplanetary travel, the chances are pretty high that we'd be a 'been there, done that" stop on the trip--that they'd be aware of many other civilizations and life forms on other planets as well. Why would they bother to contact us at all, unless they 1) thought we were some kind of threat or 2) wanted something from us.
" If extraterrestrials lands in the USA, your reaction would be....."
Take them to a music store to pick out electric guitars and see what kind of music they can make.
The religious implications would be kind of interesting.
I would love to see evangelicals trying to tell beings capable of interstellar flight about a guy named Jesus.
