The "expert" said it's a canine. What kind of canine hold its food with its hands like a monkey?

There's a thread about this in another forum.

Most likely it's a hairless raccoon or a hairless coatimundi, which is in the raccoon family.

Sure looks exactly like that creature captured. Certainly not like drawing shown.

Yes raccoons do growl like that when they are unhappy. Look at the way he uses his "hands" to eat. That is IMHO a hairless raccoon. The skin looks to healthy from what I can see on the video to have mange. It's probably just an inbred trait or or an oops in nature. Pretty darn cool tho!

It's not a Cuaitmundi... wrong kind of nose though it DOES sound a lot like one.

I agree, it does look like a hairless raccoon. I've skinned a few and am 95% sure. That's the color of Raccoon's skin under their hair too.

That video is excellent, simply because it shows how true stereotypes can be. Wow, backwoods Texas,...Just wow. PS - Who knew chupacabras had white beehive hairdos? First thing I'd do when happening upon her in the wild would be to think I'd just run into a demonic goat sucker, then turn tail and run!

The only part of Texas that is backwoods are the actual backwoods areas...like any other state with backwoods.

I don't think it is a Chupacabra either but some sort of coon hybrid.

No need to insult the entire state of TX just because you think so...does not mean it is so.

My Guess it is a Kinkajou/Raccoon or Coati Hybrid. All three are closely related. Texas has a lot of exotic animals. Because the laws only apply to native species, you get all kinds of exotics sold as pets.

Here is a Kinkajou. imagine it crossed with a Raccoon or coati
