Dream - Premonition - Warning from the dead?

I recently had a dream where my mother, my father(who recently passed) and myself were searching for my son on a wharf at a beach and could not find him. Recently while on vacation we were at a beach with a wharf that looked just like the one in my dream, and I noticed my son was climbing on it. It was kind of an ominous scene, it was cloudy with a breeze and there was a fishing boat nearby that had some kind of rigging that was knocking against the mast and making a sound like a bell in the background. The scene reminded me very much of my dream from the week before. I allowed my son to continue climbing on the wharf but stayed right by his side the whole time so if anything happened I'd be right there to address it.

I had the feeling that maybe the dream was a premonition of sorts, or a warning from my father to avoid disaster. I don't know though. The scene was so similar to the one in my dream that it's hard for me to believe it was mere coincidence. Anyone else experience anything like this?

That is the other possibility, and probably for a true skeptic the only possible explanation. The wharf was so similar to the one in my dream though. We visited many beaches with many wharfs but this one was rather distinctive.

Whatever the cause of the dream, it served it's purpose. I watched my son like a hawk, helped him across the more treacherous rocks, and calamity was avoided. I would've watched him anyway but this particular son is really good at sneaking away if you turn your back for a second, so it's good that I made sure to show him extra attention in that situation.
