Local news in my city is weather, traffic, construction, local politics and crime reportin with crime being the majority of the broadcasts. I would travel to other U.S. cities as part of employment and noticed from the local news that it was the same. One would think we have a non-stop crimewave in the USA-burglary, rape, assault, DUI, robbery and different types of murder.

Asking you UK folk if crime features prominently in your news broadcasts and what the offenses are when they do?

Local news is a little different in the UK. The main news I.e the BBC is like a local news station for the UK as national issues tend to feel more localized than in the US where the networks cover politics, foreign policy and things like gun control (like now) and then the local news takes on coverage of issues around local politics, laws and crime.

Local news in my UK covered mostly assault when it came to crime.

Every single day. I dont even watch the news because its dominated by those chavs and scum trying to cause hassle over a piece of fabric that nobody really cares about. Get over it scum.

Seriously though its always about those terrorist lunatics, nothing else. Same old, same old.

Where I live at this time of year, there's little on the news about local crime - because there's rather more crime going on in the city 45 miles away so their crime corners the news market.

Where I live in summer, 'crime' is litter-dropping or dogs crapping on the flower bed inf front of your house. - It doesn't usually make the TV.
