Ridiculous that snus (a form of Swedish chewing tobacco) is banned in the UK, in fact the whole EU.

Yet we can smoke far more harmful cigs, roll ups, cigars, pipes, snuff and e-cigarettes - so what is this all about?

I like a bit of snus but cannot buy it unless I travel to Sweden or my occasional trips to Malaysia.

So isn't this just absurd, and an infringement of liberty?

It's also illegal to buy online.

(possession is legal but selling is not)

Indeed. Chewing or smoking tobacco without any of the added chemicals is much better for you than smoking cigarettes, and isn't as addictive as nicotine. There's a reason why you get 'nicotine patches' and not tobacco patches.

and from what I can tell ,most of the major cig companies want it legalised, so it seems that its just the morality police up to their tricks.

How about the e-cigarette, surley that is in the same category as snus, yet it is allowed?

Tobacco contains nicotine by nature. Chewing tobacco may not contain as much nicotine as cigarettes (I would not be surprised if extra nicotine is added to cigs) but it does contain it and it can be addictive and can also cause cancer.

I don't know much about snus but if it involves spitting, the ban may have something to do with the belief that spitting can spread certain diseases.

The nose, being in close proximity considers chewing tobacco dangerous to it's health. Should one develope mouth cancer it's possible the cleft palate shall be removed, leaving me without my privacy from tongue. This would not be an agreeable situation.

The Nose decrees no to this chewing tobacco.

The Royal Nose instead Decrees that all Royal Subjects shall engage in Snu Snu immediately, as long as you are of legal age. Your choice of partner. Let the Snu Snu games begin!

no spitting with snus, it comes in small bags that sit under the lip till removal

I believe the ban is due to the fact that people think it is addictive and attractive for young people

but how about the e-cig, surely they are more or less the same in that regard, if not more so?

And how do you define "bad for health"? Shall we now ban bacon for being too high in fat and cholesterol? Donuts? Pizza? It's a slippery slope when you use blanket statements like this.
