Borth fire crews tackle bog blaze near Aberystwyth

Fire at Borth Properties are not believed to be at risk although the angle of this photo makes the fire look close to homes

A fire is raging on peat bogland behind a Ceredigion coastal village, causing smoke to billow over the area.

Fire crews were called to land close to High Street, Borth, near Aberystwyth, on Friday at 05:20 GMT.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service say the blaze covers approximately a hectare (2.5 acres)
I always wonder how people pronounce the names of those places in Wales. It is a Celtic language that is only spoken there and a small colony in Argentina [?!].

A Weather Map of Europe

NY shivering and covered with snow. Everybody complains and we hear all about it in the media.

But this? This is what our friends across the sea are experiencing:

Britain has been battling heavy rain and flooding for weeks, but the Thames only recently joined the list of rivers to burst their banks. This image is from the town of Egham. Adding to the weather woes, storms and high winds battered the country on Wednesday and Thursday, leaving some 80,000 people without power. @ Picture This: Water Woes - SPIEGEL ONLINE

The weather has gone crazy on both sides of the Atlantic. Britain's worst weather in 150 years we hear about and in the US it's blizzard after blizzard during the coldest winter on record (always below zero).

I had forgotten how horrible it's been in Australia and didn't know about Italy. Yes, something funny is going on for sure. Could be natural or could be what people have done to the earth.

We had terrible ocean flooding all last winter where I live and I didn't think it could be worse but this winter surpasses all. Not so much flooding but the weeks of below zero and so much snow that there's no place to put it anymore. That picture of the flooded river is just............sad.
