Its just a 'stereotype' it makes no difference whether there is any truth in it or not whatsoever, even if British food was the best food for 100 years people will still say 'British food is bad', You would think that this site would help to dispel stereotypical myths but actually it just reenforces them, there are hundreds of people on here stating stereotypical views as 'facts' (usually without even ever visiting the countries they think they are 'experts' on) and often will even argue over stereotypical views with locals of the countries in question that actually know the truth of the matter.

Odd, I've never heard of British food being bad. I've wanted to visit Britain all my life. As well as Europe. Someday when I get a better job I will certainly go!

THIS EXACTLY sums up any discussion, concerning any country, and anything as it pertains to a reputation or stereotype. In my view, experience and THEN polite opinions are much preferred instead of exact absolutes. I (in my experience and tastes) find the variety of foods of England to be top notch...of course for others it will be dependent on one's individual tastes and preference of food.
Misrepresented. I love British food, its one of the things I really miss about not living there anymore. Whenever I go back to visit I have to get chips from the chippy, mum has to cook a proper sunday roast and we have to go for a pub lunch - mmmmmmm delicious!

English food is actually pretty good. I liked eating it everyday when I stayed over there. Of course I did also have the occasional chicken tikka masala while I was there as a break from the norm
Roy Orbison toured the UK many, many times and loved the food.
