I don't know about their commercials, but Celestial Seasonings, a US based tea company, uses string-free bags and as a result saves 3.5 million pounds of waste every year.
There are plenty of positive, uplifting US commercials. I wouldn't even know where to begin. Amazon does a lot of them though, I love the one with the dog and the baby.
What's the point of this thread? To bash American companies?
May I reply? My point is that such a light-hearted and positive approach to something as prosaic as tea would never occur to the American advertising mind-set. We prefer explosions, vulgarity, and wealth fantasy. We like to pretend that our food is medicine, our automobiles are weapons, and our women are prostitutes. Call that bashing if you wish. I prefer to consider it an accurate representation of the state of the US corporate ad industry, regrettable as it is.
None of this would be important, of course, were these advertisements not so effective at twisting the American psyche into the crass, violent, and promiscuous manifestations that have become well-nigh ubiquitous. Urban violence. Road rage. Sexual assault and domestic violence. Untrammeled greed. None of these phenomena occur without cause. The fixation on and glorification of evil, violence, and wealth as portrayed in American TV advertising bears significant responsibility.
Now if you'll excuse me, it's teatime.
