Why would someone like Trump help a boy like this, after all the kid is Vietnamese, and we all know how Trump feels about refugees, and people with a darker skin than his.

Headlines are all they want. Circulation equals advertising revenue.

The article says the boy was found by a member of the public, NOT the police.

a member of the public who spoke to police , who could then have asked them to stay quiet until investigations were carried out...

Maybe because the role of news is ... reporting about current events?
Why would anyone want to hide it?

"The Encyclopedia Britannica states that the role of news agencies is to gather, write and distribute news locally or internationally to newspapers, periodicals, radio broadcasters, television broadcasters, government agencies and other users."

I think it is a difficult call.

One the one hand, a news report could tip off criminals to be more cautious; but on the other when people read crime reports they sometimes go to the police with tips or information they think might be related to the crime.
