There are similar alternatives, though –*for example, you could look into dogging, which takes place in some of the countryside areas adjacent to London and other major towns.
Well, yes........ dogging seems to be growing in popularity. Although, it takes place in darkness, or so I'm told, I hastily add. Because of this, the visitor may not get to appreciate the countryside........ Perhaps they may come across the occasional celebrity.

The dog may form part of the show to a select audience......... If so, make sure your husband is collecting his 10% management fee.
Hi, and thanks in advance! My family and I will be in the UK this summer and want to go to or see something other than London. We've been to London and love it! We'd like to see something different this summer though. We will be there about 5-6 days and will be flying into London and are a little flexible where we will fly out (but likely also London).
About us: We're a family with teenagers.
Our priorities are food, enjoying the outdoors, water, interesting location/history, easy going vacation.
Again, thanks for any help or advice you have for us !
Anyway.......
I agree with everyone who has suggested Cornwall, and I’d also like to say that neighbouring county Devon is just as nice.
Devon and Cornwall have some amazing scenery, but seeing that you have teenagers, they would probably want to go somewhere where there are more activities. I have a daughter, and she likes going to visit animal places and amusement arcades, for instance. So you may be looking at somewhere like the Torquay and Paignton area in Devon, or Newquay in Cornwall.
Just be aware though, that travelling to the South West of England during the Summer months can be quite hectic. The roads leading there will be full of traffic (as loads of other people will be travelling there, too). And also the trains will be busy. So give yourself plenty of travel time to get there, and back.
First off there's Lands End, the most southerly point in England, Right around the corner from there is the Marconi Station. While in this area don't forget to grab a pasty from Ann's, Yummy !!
Close by is the Minack Theatre at Porthcurno, built by Rowena Cade it is not only a great location for summer plays but interesting to visit.
St.Ives (pronounced Saint Eye-ves) is home to the Tate gallery.
Around Cornwall you will find ancient standing stones, one of the most famous is Men-An-Tol
The Eden Project is a series of Eco-domes housing rare plants from around this world, founded by Tim Smit, it is quite a spectacle and a very interesting day out.
Add to this various Tin Mines and Cornwall is a great place to visit.
St. Michaels mount near Marizion is a good day trip but watch those tides !
You might have guessed I'm just a tad partial to Cornwall, my family hails from Sennen and Penzance so we spent many wonderful summers there. Lots of hiking and biking, beaches are fab ! one of my favourites is Kynance Cove near the Lizard. Ann of the pasty shop is a distant relative and I worked with Tim Smit when the Eden Project was being developed.
Roads in Cornwall can be narrow but with care its very drivable, the train runs from London to Penzance daily and public transport is everywhere.
Enjoy !!!!
Land’s End is great, but there’s not much to do, apart from seeing the sign. And I recall there being a gift shop and restaurant type place, also.
The St Ives area is probably one of my favourite places in Cornwall. The beaches are gorgeous! Especially Carbis Bay - and the train goes along the coast there. I still haven’t been to The Eden Project, but it’s on my list of places to go to.
I have heard of Ann of Ann’s Pasties! I can’t remember whether I’ve tried any of her pasties, or not, but she is quite well known in Cornwall!
