I presume the name Chick-fil-A (which btw is the way the company writes its name) is a play on the way Americans pronounce the word fillet. Which is the French way. In Britain fillet rhymes with billet, unless you're in a posh French restaurant which Chick-fil-A most certainly isn't.
I hope the company has a plan to explain to the British public exactly what it is they're selling.

Good point! This American didn't get the meaning anyway but we don't have those around here. I keep seeing "Chick" but then I thought it was something about it being filling. As in, you get filled up. Never could figure out what the A stood for. Thanks to you, I know now. Yes, thick in the head at times.
Maybe there are other Americans who, like me, are or were clueless about the name. But maybe it doesn't make any difference. Whatever it's like, it HAS to be healthier than KFC and the British seem to like that stuff. I predict it will be a hit even if they don't understand the name.
McDonalds doesn't even taste like a hamburger. It's just something to eat. Five Guys is pretty good. But nothing beats a real hamburger, either served in a good restaurant or cooked yourself at home. I only need to add lettuce and tomato for it to taste perfect.
When I have a burger, I want a BURGER, not garnishes that cover up the flavor. But to each his own, I suppose.
Yeah, that's fine, but you don't go to buy just a burger in a bun at a fast food place. That's like going to a Jewish Deli for a bacon and cheese sandwich.
Only garnishes I like on a burger are a thin slice of tomato, a thin slice of mild onion and a very modest amount of hickory sauce or mayo. Agreed that fast food burgers pale in comparison to the “gourmet” varieties one can order at a good restaurant or grill at home. I grill them to medium with a Montreal Steak rub and lite soy sauce.
The standard Chick Fil A sammich comes dry with just 2 or 3 little slices of dill pickles. I remove those and savor it plain. Sometimes nibble a couple of the waffle fries. Their vanilla ice cream cup is fairly good.

I see on the commercials they have Mac and cheese. Has anyone tried it?
"The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our Restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect –regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender."

Chick-fil-A released a statement on July 31, 2012, saying, "We are a restaurant company focused on food, service, and hospitality; our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena."
Not sure what sort of "shady business practices" you're talking about by the way. I can't find anything online related to anything like that from any reputable source. Please post your sources. Thanks.
