Here in Munich and a lot of Germany, there isn't a whole lot of gentrification like there is in many American cities. I have seen gentrification in some cities (DC, Atlanta, Philly, etc.), but I am very curious to see more. Post some pics of gentrification in your city's core if you are able.

The main gentrification in Lexington KY has been just south of Downtown in the old tobacco warehouse district. Redevelopment of the area has included everything from suburban looking shopping centers and apartments to urban looking condos

One of the biggest spots for gentrification in the country is the south Bronx. There's slowly more and more whites moving into the area. They're building on the vacant lots that once housed rubble from the buildings (from when the Bronx was burning). They're turning them into 2 family houses and luxury condos. Wouldn't think this is the south Bronx, huh? Though there are a bunch of vacant lots, these are springing up all over:
What it used to look like...and buildings like below are going in the place of vacant lots; where rents are very high and slowly drawing whites into the area:
Atlanta, Georgia's Atlantic Station I guess could be considered one of Atlanta's gentrified areas. Can you believe all of this not long ago was a huge run down old abandoned steel mill?
Is this gentrification or redevelopment? The "gentry" in gentrification implies a particular class, not just building general. Also, a lot of gentrification is about the refurbishment of existing buildings. It's comparatively rich moving into a previously lower-income neighborhood and some people being displaced.

Your right these pics are more along the lines of gentrification. Techwood homes according to Wikipedia were the oldest Public Housing Projects in the U.S. They were torn down in 1996 in time for the Atlanta Olympics. They were replaced by Centennial Apartments which are much more upscale.
No pics, but the East Village in San Diego next to the Padres' ballpark might be an example.
Also, North Overton in Lubbock next to Texas Tech was a crime magnet before it was bulldozed. Now it's a very nice-looking mixed-use area that adds to the city's character. The same developer who rebuilt that area is now focusing attention on downtown (which needs all the help it can get).

Those are absolutely awesome pics! This positively shows what happens when a city can turn lemons into lemonade.
"Today, Old Fourth Ward is often the example used to cite Atlanta's increasingly rapid gentrification. The area, most recently a majority black area, has seen a huge influx of whites in the past decade. The main thoroughfare in the area is a street called Boulevard, and was made famous by local rapper Young Jeezy, who used to frequent the area, as well as the infamous Black Mafia Family (BMF) who used the area as their base of operations in the Atlanta area. Despite recent Federal indictments that were touted as the end of BMF, Boulevard is still a haven for drug activity, robberies, and murders. Despite all this, gentrification continues as the influx of new residents are attacted to Old Fourth Ward for its close proximity to Downtown, Midtown, and Buckhead." I have a few pics too, but I don't live in the US, so nevermind.
