Hi all,

The weekend after next some friends and I are hitting up Canyonlands for some camping. We're just driving over from Denver. I've been there a few times before, but I've never bothered looking at anything outside the typical campsites (which are usually full this time of year).

Anyway, we are looking for something remote and, preferably, as far away from children as possible. If possible, we'd prefer really remote. Come nightfall, we'd prefer the night sky, dead silence, and vague fear that we might not wake up to be our greatest friend. We are really looking for that "Canyonlands experience."

With that said, what are our options? We don't want to rent a Jeep (although perhaps they are cheaper here in Denver?). Is it possible to take a mild hike down into the canyons to achieve this? Is there any place where they just allow you to set up a tent wherever you want?

Any other recommendations would be great... just trying to get things planned out

Thanks a lot
