My family and I would of had an opportunity in the next few months to relocate to Heber for a job opportunity. Unfortunately, we would never be able to afford housing. I'm a gardener and big on being self-sufficient (want to raise chickens, for example) but trying to find something with around 5 acres would be cost prohibitive. Bummer; wish the prices were cheaper there. Are prices primarily high because of simple supply and demand? The Feds own most of the good land, so prices are simply higher?

Within a 20 miles maximum one-way distance to Heber, are there any other towns/communities that are cheaper? When commuting, is it too difficult to do that up in the mountains during winter?

Its very close to Park City and Deer Valley which are ski resorts which attract a national and international clientele.

You could look around Kamas, but in the winter that is pretty snowy. I also don't know that land there is much cheaper.

Seriously, unless you have a lot of money expecting to buy five acres of land in the Wasatch front area is not very realistic. You'd have to go far from Salt lake City to do it.
