Just moved to SLC a month ago. I’m renting temporarily. There are some lovely homes in the Bountiful area, but I’ve not spent much time in the area. I have fallen in love with SLC and love the area I’m renting in, but it’s a bit out of my budget to purchase.

Can some Bountiful locals (LDS and non-LDS, alike) share their thoughts about life in Bountiful. I’m an older , Protestant, professional (so, no children at home) and I am home based and travel a good bit for work. Thank you very much!

Bountiful is pretty heavily LDS, conservative and family-oriented, but if you've been there for a month now and are enjoying it, that's probably a good indicator. There are some very expensive homes in Bountiful, but there are also lots of not so expensive ones. If you could be more specific about what you're looking for, what it is about the area you're in that you like, and what your budget would be, we could probably be of more help to you.

Bountiful is awesome! We live in South Jordan now to be closer our jobs but Bountiful would have been our long-term choice. It's an actual community that has an independent identity aside from SLC. The valley itself feels like 1 giant suburb of SLC with much of it in flux and continually morphing into something new. Bountiful has a whole bunch of people that were born n raised and continue to live there. I'd call it a more mature community.

Do you have specific questions?

Thank you both. I agree with many of your positive comments about Bountiful. It’s a lovely, well-kept community that seems to be filled with property owners who have pride of ownership. I made an offer on a property and got outbid. I’m now bidding on a piece of property in Midvale.

@ Katzpur...my budget is flexible and depends upon if there’s and rental opportunity (ie, MIL basement). However, while the homes are beautiful, I find paying $397 a sq ft in Harvard Yale, The Avenues, Center City, Liberty Park area, etc. simply outrageous.

This is changing the point and objective of my original discussion, but have you noticed how much housing costs are here in SLC, but how much lower the salaries are? I moved here after two years in Minneapolis. I’m thankful that I am home-based and working for a global company!! If I was working for a local employer — I could have easily, taken a 30 percent cut in pay with a 10-15 percent increase in housing costs!

Thank you for the discussion. What a lovely state!
