Roaches are a rarity. We do have ants (I had an infestation in the house once), but I don't know how common fire ants or the more aggressive ants are. You will find flies in the house, but not an exorbitant amount. Termites are also a rarity in Utah. There are mosquitoes (not a ton, though), especially if you are by standing water.

however, fleas have been introduced from other areas of the country and occasionally cause a problem. but they, unlike some of the others, don't come back once taken care of because there is no indigenous population. ants can be a big problem, and they don't have any problem living in dry climates. flies also. but you won't worry about the biting flies much in urban/suburban areas. mosquitos can be a royal pain in the neck wherever you are in a built-up area. tip: don't keep a pond on your property.

The mosquitoes will vary depending on the area you live in and how close it is to lakes, canals, etc. They can also be a problem at different times of the year when you are camping - depends on if it was a dry or wet year. Flies are really only a problem if you have a reason for them to come and you will get the occasional renegade in your house. I have never had roaches in any of the houses I have been in. Ants will come in, especially in older homes but they are the black ants mostly and we have always gotten rid of them with the bait. They are not a problem in the yard (my friend moved to Texas and said it was hard for the kids to play outside because of the ants)
