My wife and I are in the process of selling our house and looking for a new place to live. We have always wanted to move to Utah but have never visited the north of Moab. While doing some research I came across the town of Logan. From the pics of I've seen it looks very nice. Compared to where we live now the house prices are extremely cheap. I've seen beautiful 100 year old homes in the historic district for between 100-200k. Is this too good to be true? Are the houses in a really bad neighborhood? Why hasn't Logan turned into another Boulder colorado? What about being a non religious person in a mormon community? Do non Mormons stick out?

Definately sounds like Logan to me. Utah is an extremely beautiful state with a ton of diversity so you'd never be wanting of outdoor activities.
Logan is very beautiful and historic, nice quiet town.
As far as being non-mormon I can't say a whole lot as I am. But I will say it seems to only be an issue as much as you make it one. I have read many posts on here from people who are not mormon and moved here and absolutely love it!! Yes there are rude and judgemental people but then again there are everywhere! It's all in your attitude!

I love Logan, and miss it a TON. The house prices are accurate - and the worst neighborhoods in Logan are still not that bad. It has a really low crime rate, and everything is close by - which I LOVED. I'm living in Salt Lake right now and I hate how I have to drive 20 minutes just to get to the bank.

Would you consider Logan to be a walkable town? Easy to get around by bike or foot?

I wish it was! The distances are not far, but it is not really a walkable town. Well, for me at least, but I moved from one of the more walkable cities (washington, DC) so Logan is a bit of an adjustment.
Depending on where you live, it could be alright. I live in the Island, and when I first moved here tried walking and biking places, but its just not as easy as it was for me in my previous location.
They do have the free bus system, which is nice, and I did use that when I would walk to the grocery and did not feel like walking back. However, the routes from where I live and need to go are not very convenient. But I was spoiled from the great transport system in DC, so I guess I am a little biased. It is very nice for what it is though.

My family and I are considering a move to the Logan area as well. I didn't get very many answers when I asked about the city, so I will be watching this topic.

There is so little info on the town, I've googled it like 10 different ways and still not come up with much. Do you know anything about the job market in that area? Is the economy healthy?

Walking or Biking down Main Street would be hell. Its a throughway for many people to get to the highway. The few times I have used my bike to get around (other than trail riding, which I mainly do), I had drivers lay on their horns because I was on the road.
Logan is a nice place, I have lived here for about 9 months now. I do miss walking to the grocery store and doing other errands. What I like about it: easy access to skiing, biking and hiking, affordable housing, affordable dining. If diversity and good restaurants are what you like, Logan is a bit lacking in those areas. There is one really really good Indian restaurant, an OK Thai place, and one good Italian restaurant. The rest of the dining is pretty much your standard fast food and sit down fast food places.
It is also pretty tough to find a good job here, but I guess depending on what you are looking for, it may not be too hard. It is easy to find
a job.

That is the same issue we have had as well. There just isnt' really any information on Logan. We too have googled it upside down, sideways, backwards, around in a circle...etc. etc....and can't find anything really.
