Updates:

Well, I ultimately decided on committing to a 30-day, vegetarian diet. I figured I'd just give myself a short-term commitment to see how it goes and to make the task seem less daunting. So, I ate my last hamburger on Easter (4/20), and cut out the meat, chicken, and fish the next day. Things I've learned/noticed:

1) No body gives a **** about what you eat until they find out you are going vegetarian/vegan. Seriously, I'd probably get less crap for eating fast food all of the time instead. People always ask me why and get super judgmental.

2) It's super easy to get enough protein. I'll admit, I was concerned. The common thing that my family/friends said was, "BUT YOU NEED PROTEIN!!!!!!!!!" My protein intake has been adequate.

3) It is very easy to eat like crap on a vegetarian diet. I sort of have ran into this problem because I did not prepare enough for the switch. I had no idea what to cook or how to even cook certain things. I did buy a recipe book, but the ingredient lists were intimidating. So, I resorted to snacking and eating out to fulfill my needs. I've been getting better though.

4) My digestive system is a lot more regular. Although, it gave me a big middle finger at first because I switched so suddenly.

5) I've tried a lot of foods I never would have before, and I actually enjoy them.

6) I genuinely feel better after I eat. I don't get tired after eating. In fact, I usually feel more energized

7) I don't miss meat/chicken/fish at all. I really thought I would be craving them, but I haven't at all. The only thing I miss about them is that I knew how to cook dishes with those ingredients already.

It's been an interesting experience so far! I'm excited to try more foods and improve my cooking abilities

Hey good for you! Hopefully you will continue to see positive results and will want to continue after your 30 day trial period!

It alway nice to hear people say the transition was no big deal. I agree and it's best not to tell people you are a vegetarian unless they ask ,most won't know. I added oat meal, yogurt, and a peanut butter sandwich to my diet every day. Depending on serving size that gets you to almost half of your daily requirement for protein (especially for women) and that's not a lot of food.
