Hi - I've been eating a plant based diet for over a year now and I"ve stayed away from the "fake meats" but I picked up a bag of Quorn crumbles and made a chili on Sunday.
But after "googling" quorn - I'm a little confused as to whether I should enjoy this product or not so I wanted to ask my fellow vegan community what their thoughts on it were.
I used to LOVE Quorn products as a vegetarian, considered it the best of the "fake meats." I especially loved their roast. But, sadly, most of their stuff isn't vegan (they use egg). Those grounds aren't vegan, sorry They are supposedly working on making more of their products vegan, but as of now only a handful are.
I now use Gardein a lot. All vegan, and really good. Made the fishless filets in my air fryer the other day and made vegan tartar sauce from vegan mayo, copped onion, and pickle relish. Very good.

That sounds good.
I have yet to try vegan mayo, but my daughter uses it.
I think I already posted that I used the Gardein beefless ground for spaghetti a couple of weeks ago. Really good, filling, and it gave the same satisfaction as a meat sauce. I will use it again.
Personally, I stay away from those "fake meats" because most of them contain soy protein isolate, which is very bad for you. The other day I used brown rice in my chili to give it a chewier texture. I was doubtful, but it worked really well. My entire family liked it. Also, tempeh crumbled and browned is very good in chili. I've also tried tofu crumbled and browned. It was ok but nothing to write home about.
Quorn is made of mushrooms, so no way. People rave about the taste, though.
It isn't. People were confused because it was misidentified as Graminearum venebatum but is actually Fusarium venebatum. So basically a fungi, not a parasitic mushroom. I am allergic to mushrooms but have had no adverse affect from this product.

Well, mushrooms ARE fungus and I am allergic to them all.
