As I am trying to zero out my white sugar intake I need a natural substitute. I have tried Stevia (made by sugar in the raw) and well after one use I threw the whole box in the garbage, I tried it in coffee and it had such a bitter taste. I did notice that it was not all stevia, but stevia and dextrose not sure if that makes a difference in taste. I want something that I can use all around i.e. coffee, cereal, rice (I'm a northerner), etc.

The only sweetener I use is Sugar in the Raw (which you already mentioned), so I'm not of much help -- sorry .....

Thanks. I tried the stevia version, that is what was bitter. I like the regular version I was just trying to find something different.

Liquid stevia is a great option for coffee and tea. Agave nectar is another option. I use it in tea, atop oatmeal, and for baking.

I use Xylitol for baking or any recipe that calls for sugar. It doesn't get bitter and is used 1:1 for sugar.

If I ever need a little mix-in of sweetener (like with oatmeal), I use Truvia.
Truvia is derived from Stevia, but it's made with only the best tasting part of the plant. I've never personally used Stevia, but I like Truvia.

From a vegan perspective, white sugar is often bleached with bone char.

I'm not sure if the OP was trying to eliminate it because it wasn't vegan or it wasn't healthy.

Although I don't use stevia, I've done a bit of research on it (I prefer to just use small amount of real sugar). They say that quality makes a difference, and the liquid is the best. They've also said too much can make it bitter, so I suspect you put in too much. Just need a touch!!

If I were to use a substitute, that would be the one! Seems to be the most natural.
